foam cannon

You are probably here because you can’t get enough foam from your foam cannon. If this sounds like you, then this blog post is for you.

Most of us have different ways on how to clean our cars, especially with regards to exterior and paint area. And most gearheads of course, want a foamy soap from their foam cannon or foam gun. However, most people can’t actually make their foam cannon to work as expected, giving them less and watery soapy results.

This short tutorial will show you the secrets on how to get more foam from your foam cannon and get better and much more satisfying car wash with your cleaning tools.

Secrets to Get More, Thick Foam

A lot of people have been asking me in my channel, on how do I get so much foam in my foam cannon. Well, it is pretty simple actually to get a thick foam from your foam gun.

So first off, you need…

The Right Car Shampoo

Yes, you read it right! You can’t just use any regular car shampoo in the market and expect a foamy result.

Regular cheap car shampoo in the market are mostly marketed as a “wash and wax” solution, which is designed to remove stubborn stains and dirt from your paint, while giving a polished surface.

However, these products are not designed to give you thick foam. You have to buy a car shampoo that is designed as foam solution.

One good example of this is Chemical Guys Snow Foam car shampoo, which is highly popular among professional detailers worldwide. This product is a perfect foam formula that will create thick and sticky foam without neglecting its cleaning efficacy.

So the next time you shop for a car shampoo, make sure to read the label first and see if it is a high foaming shampoo.

Buy a Foam Cannon with 1.1 Orifice

Of course, you have to own the “right” foam cannon to do the job. Any regular foam cannon will give you that foamy results, but not thick enough as they will usually be more watery.

Especially if you rely only with the soap bottle that is included with your pressure washer kit.

The secret here is not the brand (but highly encouraged that you buy branded foam cannon), but the orifice inside the foam cannon.

Orifice is the tiny hole that is found in the middle of your foam cannon (1.1 means in millimeter), which is actually a nozzle screw jet.

This creates a high output flow rate to compensate a pressure washer that has low pressure rating, basically 100 bar below (1,300 Psi). But if you have a high pressure rating pressure washer (130 bar and above), it would be much better as it will give an even more thick foam.

One good foam cannon brand that offers both 1.1 and 1.25 orifice is MJJC. So you can choose the best size that fits your pressure washer, though of course, I highly suggest that you get the 1.1mm orifice regardless of what brand of pressure washer you have.

Get the Best Pressure Washer

Speaking of pressure washer, you can get more thick foam if you both have a quality foam cannon and a high pressure washer with at least 90 bar (1,300Psi) up to 140 bar (2,000 Psi) pressure rating.

There are “industrial” designed high pressure washer that offers 151 bar (2,200 Psi) up to 240 bar (3,500 Psi) pressure washer. However, I don’t recommend that you buy these expensive, high pressure products as they can ruin and damage your car paint.

Ideally, use a pressure washer with at least 90 bar up to 140 bar pressure rating (1,300 to 2,200 Psi) only, nothing less and nothing more.

How Much Soap Do I Actually Need?

Now that you have your foamy car shampoo, a 1.1mm orifice foam cannon and a high pressure washer, the question will be, how much soap should I use?

Well, you don’t need much to get a foamy result.

Just put little amount of your foam shampoo into your foam cannon, about 1/8 of its content or about 100ml for a liter bottle. That’s all you need to get a thick foam, and the rest is water.how much foam shampoo do i use

Conclusion

There you go! That’s all you need to get a more thick and foamy shampoo from your foam cannon.
