Here in the Philippines, Hyundai cars are hot cakes as Filipinos can easily afford them compared to other Japanese counterpart brands. And yes, this Korean car manufacturer has already established a cult following that makes them one of the bestselling car brands in the country.
But actually, Hyundai got its fair share of success worldwide, along with its sister brand KIA.
While this Korean car maker can be considered as a giant player in the industry, there are some things that I want to share with you why I love and also hate Hyundai’s current car lineup. Read on to learn more!
Positive Things about the New Hyundai Cars Lineup
Hyundai has been known to provide quality and reliable cars for the general public. That’s the reason why they actually have models in each available vehicle category like vans, sedans, trucks, SUVs and even electric vehicles.
If you are an avid follower of my Youtube channel, then you probably knew that I owned an Accent (Verna) before, and that hatchback was an amazing to drive! It has great handle, over-powered for its size due to its turbocharger and definitely fun to drive.
And designers and engineers from Hyundai always satisfies their customers with regards to power as even their smallest cars have good engine that provides a lot of horsepower. So this is one reason why people buy a Hyundai.
Another thing that I want to point out with regards to Hyundai cars is their insanely impressive interior design! If you are impressed with how Subaru or Toyota design their car’s interior, well have a look with any Hyundai car and you’ll know what I am talking about!
The latest models have this unique four-spoke steering wheel design packed with state-of-the-art driving technology of today. The seats have quality leather upholstery that are powered electronically, with illuminating side doors and center console.
Another reason why people buy Korean cars is their price. In other states, Hyundai cars are cheaper compared to Japanese brands like Nissan, Mitsubishi and especially Toyota. This gave them a bit of an edge when it comes to sales production.
Other Hyundai dealers have other marketing tricks up on their sleeves. They offer 100,000 warranty coverage or a road assistance in case you have an emergency while on a trip. These perks are hard to ignore and people buy new cars for convenience and peace of mind.
My Honest Impressions about the Latest Hyundai Cars Exterior Design
I am a fan of Hyundai cars as evident of owning an Accent and a Starex van before. This is due to their cool and executive designs. Same thing with their older models such as the Sonata and the now defunct Elantra, they designed for the masses.
With today’s latest vehicle lineup, I should honestly say that I am not that impressed. While some of you may disagree with me, the majority would probably say the same thing as new Hyundai vehicles are literally ugly in my eyes.
Let me cite the Staria for example. Here is the the actual vehicle for your reference.
This van is the successor of Hyundai’s bestselling van in almost two decades – the Starex.
From the looks of it, the van is designed to be future-proof as it looks like an EV. But it is not an electric car. It does have a diesel combustion engine inside. Yeah, it is not even a hybrid for an exterior like that! I won’t even have to show you the back because it’s not a sight to be hold either.
Another example of a bad design for my perspective is their new MPV called Hyundai Stargazer. This vehicle is designed to compete with the likes of Toyota Veloz, Mitsubishi Xpander, Nissan Livina and Honda BR-V.
And what do you expect from Hyundai designers? Yeah, it does look like a car from the future as well with a gasoline combustion engine inside. However, it is not that bad as the Staria in my opinion.
I’ve seen these two vehicles on the road at night and they both horrible to look at. Both have these ugly long red LED break lights at the back while they both feature a long white LED park light at the front. You can easily tell that they are Hyundai cars because of their unique lighting structure.
These light setups might give a good impression to other motorists, but for me they surely sucks. And the numbers don’t lie. Here in manila, you seldom and I mean seldom, see any Staria or Stargazer on the road. Except of course for their other brands such as Tucson and Santa Fe.
So do you agree? Hyundai still is one of the best car companies in the world that came out of Korea. This isn’t a hate post but of course, I want to relay my opinions to the guys in Hyundai so they might want to consider to improve their designs in the future.
