Looking for the best window tint for your car? Well, you practically have many choices actually. But in this modern world, there are two best options for you – ceramic tint or the more traditional carbon tint.
So which is which?
In this post, I will discuss which car window tint is the best for your beloved car, including some advantages and disadvantages of both tint types. So read on.
Different Types of Car Window Tint Films
As mentioned above, the two most common types of window glass tint are carbon and ceramic tints. But there’s more actually!
These films varies from film materials. The better materials a tint have, the more costly it becomes. So let me give you the four different types of tints and decide which one is the best for your car.
Dyed Window Tint
Based on the name itself, dyed window tint is a film that has been treated or coated with a dye to produce a dark color film.
This is the most cheapest of the bunch. It helps block light rays and can absorb heat as well, but not good for rejecting UV and infrared light. This is a perfect tint if you want a total privacy though.
Metalized Window Tint
Unlike dyed tint which is composed or coated with dye, metalized window tint contains metallic particles embedded on the film, making it the thickest type of window film in this list.
And unlike dyed tint, metalized window tint can help block UV light radiation and reflect heat away from the cabin, while it produces natural darkness.
All these features are possible due to the formation of adhesive base layer, on top of a metalized layered film.
Metallized window tint is also shiny from the outside, which is truly an upgrade from a dyed window film. But the downside is that, it can interfere with GPS signals, cellular phone data and can even affect your ignition key transponder.
Carbon Window Tint
Lets talk about one of the best tints that you can pick on this list. Carbon window tint is a type of film that is infused with carbon particles which are very effective at blocking infrared light.
This makes carbon tint a great choice for the summer time and in tropical areas as it can help keep your car interior cooler. Plus, carbon tint doesn’t fade quickly unlike dyed and metallized tints.
In short, carbon window tint is a more effective and better tint than dyed and metallized films. Carbon tint also doesn’t interfere with cellular and GPS signals as it doesn’t contain any metal particles.
Ceramic Window Tint
The undisputed king of car window tints, ceramic tint is the best choice out there for all types of car as it provides key benefits.
Ceramic films contains ceramic particles that are known to effectively reject heat, sun glare, infrared light and UV rays. You can even use dark ceramic tint without sacrificing visibility from the cabin.
And since this is the best, you can have all the key features of the first three tints mentioned above, including heat resistance, no signal interruption, UV rays protection, and of course if you want, complete privacy.
Ceramic tint is also the most durable film out there as it can maintain its look and original color for years and will not fade. It also help strengthens your windows making it harder to break.
But one big downside of ceramic tint is of course its high price tag.
Which is the Best Tint for You?
Any tint mentioned above can truly help give some benefits and aesthetics to your car. It just a matter of preference on which type of tint is a good fit for your vehicle.
But for most car enthusiasts like me, I only want the best for my car and for my family as well. As you know, a good tint helps make driving easier while giving you that privacy and comfort that you deserve.
And that is of course, Ceramic Tint!
If price is not a concern, then I suggest go for ceramic tint. They last longer, offer better protection and privacy and most shops that offer ceramic films offer 2 or even 7 years of warranty! That’s insane right?
But if you are on a budget, you can still choose the second best option which is the carbon tint.
So which is which for you? Below is my own video where my car is being pampered and with Ceramic window film! The video is in Tagalog but has English subtitle. Enjoy!
